Services
Small Businesses and Nonprofits
Greg has helped start over a thousand small businesses and non-profits in Duluth, Northeastern Minnesota, and Northwest Wisconsin.
New entrepreneurs are often overwhelmed by start-up costs and the seemingly endless number of small details of setting up a business so legal services should be straightforward, easy to understand, and affordable.
Most new business entities are limited liability companies (LLC). Greg has developed a streamlined and affordable process to set up an LLC and minute book that provides liability protection for owners and maximizes financial benefits.
Having been in the business himself for more than 30 years, Greg is familiar with business support services in the area. He has a vast network of existing business clients so he can provide start-up business clients with valuable networking opportunities.
Greg has experience in all aspects of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations.
Estate Planning and Probate
After having prepared over a thousand estate plans for families, Greg believes that estate planning should be simple and understandable.
An estate plan usually consists of a will, power of attorney, and health care directive. It should include a plan to deal with real estate which avoids probate such as a transfer on death deed (TODD).
Lifetime trusts are helpful to manage assets for minor children, care for adult children with special needs and organize and collect assets. Trusts can also help avoid probate.
Eldercare law deals with securing long-term care for seniors, paying for that care, and preserving family wealth for future generations. We help families develop strategies to pay for nursing home and assisted living care which in this area can cost up to $10,000, a month, and protect family assets.
Probate is the court-supervised administration of a decedent’s estate. Usually, probates are necessary to sell or distribute real estate owned by a decedent at the time of death. Greg has developed a streamlined procedure for handling probates quickly and affordably.
Real Estate
Gilbert Law Office practices in all areas of commercial and residential real estate law.
This includes preparing conveyances, leases, purchase agreements, construction documents, mortgages, easements, and other documents.
We have experience dealing with all court-related real estate actions.
Greg can explain the process clearly and prepare a solution that addresses a real estate matter quickly and affordably.
We also perform real estate title searches and clear title problems that can hold-up real estate closings.
